Description

WHAT
︎︎︎ “Zoetropic Sympoiesis” was an exhibition, organized in WORM, Rotterdam, where I took place with a series of posters, designed after an observation in the Kralingse Bos, Rotterdam.

︎︎︎ Besides the posters, I designed and RISO printed the exhbition floorplan + stickers.

WHY
︎︎︎ Inspired by one of my walks in Kralingse Bos and the aftermath of a fierce storm, the project was born. Commenting on the growing distance between man and nature, the work follows a poetic narrative. Humans’ great concern is how to remain productive; They think they are what they produce. Trees’ great concern is how to escape being a product; They are what is being produced.

HOW
︎︎︎ Entangling handmade paper, ink and words, I transformed a day of observations into a printed installation. The handmade paper contains plants from the very same forest the project is about. The paper I sew together to create 3 A2 size paper panels on which I printed with a flatbed printer my observations.

︎︎︎ Along with the posters I included ceramic frames I made with a picture of the forest after the storm and an illustration, summarizing the key points in my observation-essay.
