︎︎︎ “The Tarnovian” is a project, organized by ︎︎︎Studio Komplekt in collaboration with ︎︎︎Fashion Days during the festival Varusha South.
︎︎︎ I got invited together with 9 other Bulgarian visual artists to create a cover of the imaginary magazine The Tarnovier as a tribute to the iconic covers of The New Yorker magazine.
︎︎︎ With the cover of the magazine I portrayed Veliko Tarnovo as a city of contrast, culture and endless wandering.
︎︎︎ The inspiration for the illustration comes from the numerous narrative lines that coexist in the old capital - from the residential neighbourhoods with their everyday character to the old part of the city, enticing both tourists and locals with its colourful appearance.
︎︎︎My approach was to gather images that I have already made of the city and mind-map the most iconic views, rituals and daily living of the city and its citizens.
︎︎︎ After I collected my references I made a multi-points-of-view illustration, capturing the diversity of environments, rituals and histories of the city.
