Description

While observing (for one hour) the fallen tree in Kralingse Bos, a semi-forest in the concrete jungle of Rotterdam, I was fascinated by the contrast of the object and its environment. The forest is man-made; people created
it so they can feel closer to the feeling of being “at home“, even though they were the one, who tried to
get as far as possible from their natural habitat. Now the man-made forest is being also used as a way
of coping with stress, created in the man-made society.

Besides that contrast, I also was captivated by the texture of the wood and the roots. For summering
my verbal and visual impressions I made a zine with illustartions and thoughts I had on spot, while
observing the fallen tree.
The final publication is riso printed and hand folded.
