The Installation

Created specially for the space and presented for the first time publicly, “Fragmentary perceptions” was exhibited for the 1m² art initiative in the period between 16.07.2022 - 19.08.2022.

Body of a pigeon; fabric with 7 black and white photos printed in different sizes; scattered mirrors reflecting everything around.
Contoured, the dove appears as an archive of fragmentary experiences and memories. Their fragmentation, mobility and existence outside of any context allow us to imagine an impossible freedom. In the space reflected by the mirrors, between those fragments of our existence, lies the longing for freedom, wholeness and harmony.

The photos printed on the fabric were shot and developed by me. With double exposure, the first pictures are shot in Bulgaria, while images from Rotterdam, where I currently live, overlay on top. They represent details and elements from the two worlds that I inhabit in parallel. It seems like they form an abyss that swallowing my personality, so that I can subsequently manifest again.

The installation "Fragmentary Perceptions" also plays the role of a self-portrait, through the making of which I reflect on my own fragmented existence and how it acts as a catalyst for my creative spirit and energy.

The “1m2 Art” Project

The Installation was specially done for the art project “1m2 Art” - a joint initiative of the curator Martina Yordanova and "TAM Veliko Tarnovo", which for the fourth year presents artists from the contemporary Bulgarian and international scene within a space of 1 sq.m.

Inspired by the white cube concept, the project gives young and established artists the opportunity to showcase their work in an unconventional exhibition environment. In 2022, 1m² Art received the support of Veliko Tarnovo Municipality and is part of the municipality's cultural calendar.

“Fragmented Perceptions” is the third work that the space for culture and social initiatives TAM Veliko Tarnovo presents in this year's season of the 1m² art series.
